At Classic & Performance Mustangs Inc. vintage body restorations are our specialty. It involves taking the vehicle down to a bare metal shell
before handling the typical body work & paint associated with a classic vehicle.
Each vintage body restoration starts with an initial
teardown of the vehicle where we disassemble
and mark & package all of the parts and hardware
to be refinished or replaced as needed. A list of
new parts needed is then compiled as the parts to
be reconditioned are media blasted to remove all
the original coatings from the metal. Once the old
body panels have been stripped bare, any dings or
dents are repaired and spot primed before the
panels are reinstalled with rebuilt hinges and
aligned for proper fitment. Afterward, the entire
vehicle gets primed and block sanded for a smooth
base before being seam-sealed. The vehicle is
then primed again, block sanded again and
recieves it's final prep for paint. The vehicle than
makes it's final trip into the spraybooth where it
will be sealed, have the basecoat applied and
finally get clearcoated. The vehicle then begins the
reassembly process with all of the major
components reinstalled and aligned. Once the
body panels are reinstalled the paint is cut &
buffed to a mirror finish. The final trim pieces are
reinstalled and the vehicle recieves a complete
detail before being delivered to the customer.
